I need to start making this a weight loss blog again. My back is doing good and I’m improving each day. However I have slacked on the weight loss.
I will still update on my back condition for those who are interested but I need to get more of a focus back on over all health.
That said my back is doing pretty good for being almost 2 months from my surgery date. I still am uncomfortable sitting in some chairs. I need to stop by my work and get my office chair. They are letting me bring it home so I can get used to that. I figure that way it will not be a shock to back when I go back to work.
Now for the healthy talk. The doctor told me that I will pretty much be my own physical therapist so that is what I have been working on. I have had enough therapy to know what they do anyhow. So I have been doing all the back stretches and exercises that I am able to do. Those I learned from my first back surgery. I have also been going to the YMCA. I have added 15 minutes on the recumbent bike to go along with walking a mile. I also started on the elliptical machine. I was only able to do 2 minutes on that but I will work my way up. My goal is to be able to do an hour of cardio each day. Then at some point I want to add in the weight machines but that will need to wait until I have more strength and endurance built up.
My goal is to be in a good routine by the time I go back to work in April. That way I will continue on with it. Siting at a desk can get to your health if you don’t watch it. The whole key is to eat less and move more. My second goal is to hopefully get down to 225 by the end of April. I don’t know how realistic it will be to lose 25 lbs by then but I should come close. I have gained about 7 lbs these last few weeks and am putting a stop to that. It is so easy to fall back into old habits but I will never go back to what I was. NEVER!
Yay! You can do it Howie!
I’m right back at it with you, Howie. Promise!
Good to hear that things are progressing nicely for you with your back… I’m sure that you will be able to continue your diet without any problems… Let me know the next time that you are in the area…
Hey Howie, good to hear from you buddy.
Be careful with the wieght loss. As you are getting closer to your ideal weight, pounds will not come off as easy as it was before. Don’t go to extremes!!!
Thanks for the update. It sounds like you’re doing great.
Keep up the chin Howie. You are doing nothing wrong. After what you have been through I’d be flat on the floor whining & begging for cheese! As Frenchie said – The closer you get to the goal the harder the struggle. GOD has given you the fortitude. You CAN do it.
