What I watch!

No not what’s on TV. What I watch in my diet is what I want to talk about. I have always pretty much just watched fat and calorie intake. However lately I have been keeping an eye on protein, carbs and fiber thanks to Fatsecret.com. From what have read, for me at my desired weight and my current calorie intake of 1800 a day this is what I should be eating. The below 5 things are all I care to track at this moment.

Carbs - Fat- Fiber – Prot – Calories
270 – 50 – 25 – 75 – 1800

So for what I have eaten today the count is

Carbs - Fat- Fiber – Prot – Calories
41.33 – 237.92 – 30.8 – 74.22 – 1542

I just wanted to post this as an example of what we should be eating. I’m going to try and stay within these guide lines for the next few months and see how things go.

Here is what I ate today.

Breakfast
1 Bowl of Kashi Go Lean
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 banana

Mid morning snack
1/2 pecan nut muffin

Lunch
1/2 Subway Turkey sub with cheese and light mayo
1 Orange

Mid afternoon snack
1 Ice cream sandwich
1/4 cup wheat puffs

Dinner
1/2 Subway Turkey sub with cheese and light mayo

Snack
258 calories left ???

Weigh in day is here again.

Hi all, this has been a good week for weight loss in our house. Nothing like the biggest loser numbers but still good in our opinion. That is one thing we hate about the biggest loser. They really put those folks through the ringer to get that much weight off them. It makes people doing it at home feel like something is wrong. It’s always been considered good to lose 1-2 pounds a week. That just sound paltry to 15-20 they are doing on the biggest loser. So if you are trying to lose just remember your going to have a lot of weeks that are only that 1-2 mixed with a few that might be 4-6.

And now for our weigh in’s. Kimberley is down 4 to 255 and I am down 6 to 312. It sure feels good to be eating right and going down in size.

Ok I have pretty much broke all my new years resolutions. What’s new? LOL However those are just goals and I’m still working on all of them, just not getting it done every day.

Kimberley and I have been staying on our diet this past week. She is down 3 to 259 and I am down 7 to 318. Those numbers are not numbers that either one of us ever wanted to see again but that is where we are. At least we are on our way back down.

I went to a men’s game night at the church last night. I had 600 calories left when I went. Well it was a men’s gathering so not much to choose from. Basically it was just a grab bag of candy. I should have brought a veggie tray. Anyway since it was just all candy I decided not to eat anything even though I was starving, well very hungry. I headed for the truck stop afterwords and hit the 24 hour Subway for a footlong roast beef. So that was a big victory for me.

We had a good time play euchre, doge ball, corn hole and Wii bowling.

Weigh in day

I’m kind of disappointed this week. I thought with all the bike riding I would really take off some pounds. I weighed yesterday and I was only down a pound to 295. It seems my body will not allow me to have a treat night anymore as I did last week, I also did last night. So we will see how that effects next weeks weigh in. At least I’m getting lots of exercise.

Me and a buddy are going on a twenty mile ride in the morning. I’ve been doing 10 miles a day all this week. I will see how 20 goes. I love getting out on the bike. You can see so much more than just walking and I have so many more options of where to go.

Weigh in Day

Well we have both been doing pretty good on our diet this week. Kimberley is down 3 lbs to 243 and I am down 1 lb to 295.

I still need to get out of the mind set of stuffing myself one day a week. I really wanted to make today a treat day and eat whatever I wanted but I know that is not good for me. So I am going to eat normal and healthy all day and then have one higher calorie meal but not a free for all tonight.

We are going with some friends to see the movie Eagle Eye tonight and then go out to dinner at Feta Greek. So I was thinking the Mega Gryo with Fries. I think I will cut that back to a smaller size and maybe add some veggies in there.

Weigh in day is here

I had no major treat nights this week but was over my calories a couple of times. I think I am going to continue not doing a treat night and then just not worry if I go over my calories one ore two nights by a couple hundred. It seemed to work really well this week. I know one night I was over by about 500 and then another by 100.

I lost another 5 lbs this week and am now under 300 once again. I really hope never to see or say that number agian. It is depressing to gain weight and have to take it off again. The whole time your just kicking yourself saying why did not stick with it I could be this or that weight by now. Oh well it’s just something I will have to deal with. I am now at 296 and counting down.

Kimberley is doing really well too. She maintained this week but I’m sure that is just a water retention thing because of what time it is. Anyway we are both eating healthy and getting exercise. Kimberley has went out walking 3 times this past week. She even walked clear downtown. I am so proud of here getting out on her own and walking. Keep up the good work sweetie.

Back on the wagon

Well here we go one more time. It seems like a never ending cycle with us. We do good with our eating and then we do bad. I am back up over 300 lbs and can not stand it. I have gained 64 lbs since my lowest in December of 2005. There is no excuse for this! Especially since I have had this wonderful back surgery that I take a chance of messing up with every pound I put on. So no more, the buck stops here. I have already droped 10 lbs Since last weeks weigh in of 311. Which I am very pleased about because before vacation I was 307. So that means that some how I managed to lose 6 pounds over the last two weeks and one of those week was a vacation with lots of bad things to eat. I know when I weighed Sunday that a lot of it was water weight. It will feel so good next week to see that scale say two something again.

I know if you have read my blog your probably saying here he goes again. Why does he keep going up and down? I don’t know the answer to that myself but I know if I just let go I would be back up to 490 in no time and I refuse to do that. So heres to eating healthy and living right. We are going to do it this time no matter what people say or what we say. Because believe me we are our hardest critics. Don’t think that anything you have every thought or said, we have not already said it to ourselves.
